British life and artistic activity

Today, I went back to the Sunny side medical centre after quite some time, which really brought home the importance of taking care of my health while living abroad. In the UK, even though I've been careful about my diet, alcohol intake, and exercising, I ended up getting sick in February. My approach to dealing with illness and how I handle medical costs has changed a lot compared to back in Japan. I've picked up on the dangers of trying to diagnose myself and realised how crucial it is to keep an eye on my health, and the NHS staff's positivity and energy have been a huge uplift. Life in the UK has given me the incredible opportunity to dive deep into my art amidst nature. It's a big shift from my life in Tokyo's bustling office districts, with the sea, forests, and rivers close by, and art all around me. I cherish the freedom to be creative in various spots around my house. Working on a painting involves layering colour, refining light effects, and broadening expression, which enriches my thinking and perspective on each piece. Dealing with different languages and cultures here, I've also had to adjust to Cornwall's local dialect, adding another layer to understanding English in Europe. The English taught in Japan often isn't enough for the diverse ways it's spoken here. Living overseas is full of challenges, but I'm aiming to secure the basics: official residency, a stable address, income, and social ties. I'm committed to fulfilling the conditions needed to make a life abroad truly mine.

Marilyn Monroe in Art Repel

These two pieces are from a set of four. Commissioned by a Japanese Art magazine. These would look great adorning any restaurant or bar...
