About Repel Art

Updated: Nov 9, 2022

The exhibition was held at Villa Marchesi http://www.masseriavillamarchesi.com/?fbclid=PAAaY6VbU5HAYWS4OR-sQ2VKktzn_4HfzADyJENTBMX6JO5p9uMsqByXMVTys in Taranto, southern Italy. I had an exhibition in the space outside there from October 26th to 29th. The exhibition was a collaboration with photographer Rosa Colacoci. https://www.gigarte.com/rosacolacoci?fbclid=PAAaa339NdYrVFwybX9SL-7rNENCP85Jrqz2NsSQaLCnUe5u5faI5vNMdMtnw

She also makes abstract works. I saw her work at a meeting before the exhibition. I like her work. I was fascinated by the stimulating and graceful eros of her work. This is the eternal theme of my work. And she was a nice person too. Well, I exhibited 35 repel arts. The 26th was the opening day. On that day, I did an art performance. I used repel 3 and color matie art materials on 2m x90cm repel paper. I didn't have an image to draw. I felt the atmosphere and sound of the venue and did an art performance. I was nervous, but when I started the art performance, I was concentrating on the screen I was making. What made it possible was the atmosphere of the venue and the people who gathered there. When the performance ends, the situation at that time remains on the screen of the work. Well, there are 35 repel art works on display. Black and white repel art and color repel art work. For the exhibition from the night, I used gold leaf here and there. I wanted to see the reflective effect of the gold leaf at night. Gold leaf is reflective even in the dark. If you add incandescent bulbs and natural light, you can still enjoy the brilliance. Luckily, it was sunny during the exhibition. And there was also moonlight. And an exhibition using the pool side. I wanted to experience this. The black and white repel art is reflected on the surface of the water, creating an atmosphere like a Japanese painting. Black and white repel art sometimes feels heavy. However, by using the water surface effect, the charm of repel art can be drawn out. This time, Fabrizio Giusti, the organizer, wrote an explanation about repel art. He accurately described the essence of repel art. It's wonderfully documented.

【Repel Art】

Repel Art nasce come antica forma d’arte tradizionale giapponese.

【Repel Art】

Repel Art was born as an ancient form of traditional Japanese art. The union and repulsion between fine inks and pure solvents creates extraordinary evocative effects of the dualism present both in nature and in the world of man. Attractions and repulsions, endowed with different polarities, create motifs and suggestions on the canvas where the presence dances with the absence, creating infinite combinations and forming suggestive images that the artist's technique offers with ancient wisdom combined with extreme experimentation. The thesis of the ink and the antithesis of the solvent create on the support the synthesis of the work that alludes to the very meaning of existence.
